German Shepherd Dog

Large • Adult • Male

Up-to-date with routine shots • Spayed/Neutered • Prefers a home without: dogs, young children, cats

Champ is a LongCoat male gsd that is between 6-8 yrs old and he is hoping his story will touch your heart and you will come take him home and love him forever. He promises to give you so much love in return for giving a senior boy a second chance. Champ would do best in a home with no other pets or children but only adults for him to give his all to. He walks like a pro on leash, has spurts of energy to bounce and play and he loves car rides, he may need a little boost to get in though. Champ lost his first home and found himself living outside on a heavy chain with very little attention human contact. Since in rescue he has gained some much needed weight and is a very healthy boy. Champ is hard of hearing but you can get his attention with vibrations or loud noises. Most the time he is right by your side keeping you company, just in case you were to miss him. Senior dogs are the best as they are through the rambunctious puppy stage, they have perfect house manners, they are house trained and they can be happy just hanging out with their people. Although champ is also up for some activity as he is not yet ready to cash in the chips. Seniors make super companions as they bond so quickly to their family wanting nothing more than to please them. Can you open up your heart and love this big fluffy guy Please visit our website at to complete an online application.

The brief descriptions we have posted about our dogs are based on our observations and interactions with them since coming to our rescue. We will take our dogs out into public areas to watch their behaviors around strangers and other pets while walking them. We also place them in a daycare facility to ensure that they are sociable with other dogs and if not, which dogs they do not perform well around, such as small dogs or another large breed. When available, we place our dogs in a foster home to observe their house manners and help them to trust people again. If we observe bad behaviors we work with them to correct behaviors such as jumping on furniture or paws on the counters. There will be times that we will not be able to provide the answers to some of your questions – like are they good with children or cats – especially rescued dogs found as strays with little or no background. Even though we spend as much time as possible interacting with all our dogs, and they behave a certain way when with us, German Shepherd Rescue of the Rockies cannot guarantee their future behavior with their new families.
