German Shepherd Rescue of the Rockies - KodaGerman Shepherd Rescue of the Rockies - KodaGerman Shepherd Rescue of the Rockies - KodaGerman Shepherd Rescue of the Rockies - KodaGerman Shepherd Rescue of the Rockies - KodaGerman Shepherd Rescue of the Rockies - Koda

Cattle Dog / German Shorthaired Pointer

Medium • Young • Male

Spayed/Neutered • Up-to-date with routine shots

Koda is between 1.5 to 2 years old and he was picked up by animal control with Brandy when the two of them were found wandering the streets, We know the 2 dogs would do ok separated as they are not bonded. Even though he looks like a tiny gsd, Koda is a mix of cattle dog and german shorthair, according to his DNA. He is a little shy at first but then becomes a very loving boy. Koda is somewhat mellow and independant, but he does get the energy of a youngest. He loves to play with toys, play fetch, go on walks and he is great in the car. He can also relax and watch tv with you. Koda is house trained, crate trained and very food motivated. He already knows his commands of sit, come, down and shake. We think koda would do best in a semi quiet home with no youngsters, and a 6 foot privacy fence would be required if you have a backyard. He has seen cats with little reaction so we think with training, time and patience he could share his home with kitties. He would be fine as the only pet or if you already have a dog a female on the lowkey side but with some energy to play would make a good match. Koda is on the small size only weighing in at 40 pounds. Koda loves to stay by your side and keep your feet warm when you are on the couch. Please submit your app today so he can start his new life. The brief descriptions we have posted about our dogs are based on our observations and interactions with them since coming to our rescue. We will take our dogs out into public areas to watch their behaviors around strangers and other pets while walking them. We also place them in a daycare facility to ensure that they are sociable with other dogs and if not, which dogs they do not perform well around, such as small dogs or another large breed. When available, we place our dogs in a foster home to observe their house manners and help them to trust people again. If we observe bad behaviors we work with them to correct behaviors such as jumping on furniture or paws on the counters. There will be times that we will not be able to provide the answers to some of your questions – like are they good with children or cats – especially rescued dogs found as strays with little or no background. Even though we spend as much time as possible interacting with all our dogs, and they behave a certain way when with us, German Shepherd Rescue of the Rockies cannot guarantee their future behavior with their new families.
