Adopting a German Shepherd Rescue of the Rockies Dog

GSROR DOES NOT ADOPT OUT OF THE STATE OF COLORADO

We would like to thank you for visiting our website and considering one of our available dogs to become your new family member. All of our dogs have been tossed aside for various reasons and our goal is to find them one last home where they can live out the rest of their lives with love and happiness. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, veterinarians, trainers, and daycare facilities, we strive to personally get to know all of our dogs. When possible we place our dogs in a doggie daycare facility so we can observe their social behavior with other dogs and allow them the opportunity to run, play and just be a dog. The dogs are then moved into a foster home so they can learn house manners and basic obedience. We are dedicated to working with the ones that need a little more attention so they can adjust well to a better life.

We are a foster home based rescue and do not have a shelter type facility where all the dogs are house in one location

The adoption fee for our dogs is $350, which includes a veterinary heath examination, up-to-date vaccinations, a microchip, dogs will be spayed or neutered, and heartworm tested (if old enough) . Senior dog adoption fees will be posted separately for each dog.

You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt any of GSROR’s available rescued dogs. If you feel you can offer the type of stable and responsible home that we look for and are under the age of 25, you may submit your application and it will be taken under consideration.

If you see a dog on our website that you are interested in please fill out our Adoption Application. During the application process, we will contact your references, landlord if renting, your vet and then call you for the interview. This conversation will help us get to know you better and together we can find the perfect fit for your family. If one of our dogs will be a good match we will set up a “meet & greet” so you can spend time with the dog and get know each other. We do require that the entire family be present for the showing, including any other pets you may own. We want to ensure that all members agree to this adoption, that the dog responds well to the each member of the family, and to observe the behavior of your current pet with the rescued dog. At this time we can either bring the dog to your home and complete the home inspection OR we will meet at a neutral location where a separate home inspection can be scheduled. If you fall in love with the rescued dog and the dog responds well with your family, we will discuss adoption, please keep in mind that our goal is to ensure each adoption is a good fit for all involved, especially the dog.

We understand that you are excited about adding a new member to your family, but please know that we are a volunteer group and this process can take anywhere from a few days up to 2 weeks to accomplish. We will contact you by phone if your application meets our requirements and we have a dog we think will be a good fit for you.

If you do not hear from us within 14 days it is not because your application has been denied but that we do not feel any of our current dogs would be a good match for what you are seeking or what the dog requires for a successful relationship. Please do not email us to find out why but continue your search for another rescued friend to join your family.

Thank you for taking the time to complete our application, we look forward to speaking with you soon.
