Adopting a German Shepherd Rescue of the Rockies Dog
We would like to thank you for visiting our website and considering one of our adoptable dogs to become your new family member. All of our dogs have been tossed aside for various reasons and our goal is to find them one last home where they can live out the rest of their lives with love and happiness. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities, we hope to be able to rescue many dogs every year. We place our dogs in a daycare facility so we can observe their social behavior and then into a foster home to learn house manners and teach them basic obedience. After we get to know our dogs we interview each candidate to find the right home that will fit each dog’s personality and needs. We will provide the necessary vet care, bring them up-to-date on vaccinations, microchip, and heartworm test as well as spay or neuter our dogs. We will work with our rescue dogs that need a little help to trust and love people again, meanwhile improving their social behavior. We will stay involved and be there for each adopted dog for the duration of its life.
The adoption fee for our dogs is $300, which includes a veterinary heath examination, up-to-date vaccinations, a micro-chip, dogs will be spayed or neutered, and heartworm tested. They will come with a dog collar and ID tag. Senior dog adoption fees will be posted separately for each dog.
If you see a dog on our website that you are interested in, or you want to adopt a German Shepherd, please fill out our Adoption Application. If your application meets our requirements GSROR will contact you by phone to conduct an interview before making a final decision regarding your application. Please allow us 10-14 days to process your application. During the applications process, we will contact your references, and arrange a telephone interview with you to discuss the dog that will be a perfect match for your family. Once your application is approved, we will arrange a showing for you and your family to spend time with the dog. We do require that the entire family be present for the showing, including any other dogs you may own. We want to ensure that all members agree to this adoption, that the dog responds well to the each member of the family, and to observe the behavior of your current pet with the rescued dog. At this time we can either bring the dog to your home and complete the home inspection OR we will meet at a neutral location where a separate home inspection can be scheduled. If you fall in love with the rescued dog and the dog responds well with your family, we will discuss adoption, but PLEASE KEEP IN MIND, our goal is to ensure that each adoption is a good fit for all involved, especially the dog.
Please do not send us emails regarding the status of your application.
