Adoption Application

Thank you for your interest in adopting a rescue dog from German Shepherd Rescue of the Rockies (GSROR). This application will assist us in finding you the right dog for your family and your lifestyle. Please note that we do not adopt out of the state of Colorado.

The adoption fee for our dogs is $350, which includes a veterinary heath examination, up-to-date vaccinations, a micro-chip, dogs will be spayed or neutered, and heartworm tested. They will come with a dog collar and ID tag. Senior dog adoption fees will be posted separately for each dog.

You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt any of GSROR’s available rescue dogs. If you feel you can offer the type of stable and responsible home we look for and are under the age of 25, you may submit your application and it will be taken under consideration.

The adopter understands that this is an application to adopt and part of the application process includes us contacting your vet and personal references (please inform your references that we may be calling them). If your application meets our requirements, we will contact you by phone to conduct an interview before making a final decision regarding your application. Please do not send emails regarding the status of your application.

We typically do not adopt to homes with children under 6 years of age, homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis.

Please answer all questions with as much detail possible; incomplete applications will not be reviewed. We know our application is long and detailed, but experience has shown us that the more information we acquire now will help find the right fit for your family. It takes us valuable time to process applications, and if you rush through the questions with yes and no answers and no descriptions, your application may be put on the bottom of the list to process.

You can click on this link for information pertaining to this question

What type of GSD you are looking for*:

The first few months upon adopting tend to be the most difficult. Your new dog has been through many transitions, and your home is just one more transition in his mind. Behaviors we hadn’t seen can crop up, or behaviors we saw can be amplified during the transition period. Working through these issues can be challenging and time consuming, please be as clear and honest as possible so we can help you adopt the best possible fit.

If the dog you are applying for is no longer available, or will not be a good fit for your family, are you open for our suggestion of another dog:

When you submit this application you are acknowledging that the information given is true and accurate. A representative of GSROR will contact the references you provided. We understand that you are excited about adding a new member to your family but please understand that we are a volunteer organization and this process could take up to 14 days.

GSROR reserves the right to refuse adoption to anyone.
