German Shepherd Dog / Labrador Retriever

Medium • Young • Female

Spayed/Neutered • Up-to-date with routine shots • Prefers a home without: cats

Brandy is between 1.5 to 2 years old and she was picked up by animal control with another dog when the two of them were found wandering the streets. Brandy is a GSD mixed with labrador retriever who only weighs about 40 pounds. Brandy is a very loving, affectionate little girl who enjoys being with her humans. She is shy at first but then becomes your very best friend and devoted companion. Brandy loves to play with toys, go on walks, car rides or just hang out at home watching tv with you. Brandy is house trained, crate trained and very food motivated. She already knows her commands of sit, come, down and shake. We have had her around young kids and she was very good with them. Brandy seems to have a prey drive so a home with no cats is best. If you already have a dog she would like a playmate who is not dominate or pushy, since she herself is a gentle player. The one flaw with brandy is that she can jump fences of any height, so maybe best to be an apartment dog, or a person who enjoys being outside with their dog? The brief descriptions we have posted about our dogs are based on our observations and interactions with them since coming to our rescue. We will take our dogs out into public areas to watch their behaviors around strangers and other pets while walking them. We also place them in a daycare facility to ensure that they are sociable with other dogs and if not, which dogs they do not perform well around, such as small dogs or another large breed. When available, we place our dogs in a foster home to observe their house manners and help them to trust people again. If we observe bad behaviors we work with them to correct behaviors such as jumping on furniture or paws on the counters. There will be times that we will not be able to provide the answers to some of your questions – like are they good with children or cats – especially rescued dogs found as strays with little or no background. Even though we spend as much time as possible interacting with all our dogs, and they behave a certain way when with us, German Shepherd Rescue of the Rockies cannot guarantee their future behavior with their new families.
